Kathy Boswell

Kathy is one of the most energetic and authentic people you will meet. Her energy radiates whenever she facilitates, teaches, presents, and speaks.
Her experience includes serving as Interim Director for the Birmingham Education Foundation, Director of Employee Experience with the Birmingham Education Foundation, Director of Learning and Development with Baptist Health System, and a Consultant with Healthcare Experience Foundation. In all these roles she shared her expertise in organizational culture, strategy, leadership development, customer service, and executive coaching in all organizations.
Her recent role was serving as the Executive Vice President of Community and Volunteer Engagement with The World Games 2022 Birmingham. In this role, she led the Community Engagement initiatives, including Supplier Diversity, Education (K-8), Sustainability, Disability and Inclusion, Community Outreach, and Volunteerism.
The World Games was a multi-sport, 11-day event, held every 4 years across the World. In July 2022, for only the second time in history, The Games were held in the USA. Kathy led the volunteer program that included 7000+ volunteers.
The event provided an opportunity for a unique volunteer development program that prepared people to serve, be developed personally, and have fun. In hee role she was able to use her work experience to design unique and engaging learning experiences for people who served as volunteers and those who served as part of her leadership and internship teams. The program was designed to equip volunteers with learnings that they could take back into the community and the spaces where they worked. In addition it was designed to equip individuals for ongoing volunteer opportunities.
Kathy has now launched her mission: B-Intentional. She is a firm believer that in this day and time everyone needs to be intentional in how they live, lead, love, and leave your legacy. Why? Life is not like the movies - there is no retake of a moment.
B- Intentional is a company that focuses on people. The goal is to strengthen the connections and engagement of people where they work and serve. Both for the company and the person. Through B-Intentional Kathy specializes in assessing and resetting organizational culture, emerging leadership coaching, leadership development, and employee engagement and encouragement. She also facilitates learning sessions to assist individuals in discovering their strengths in the workplace. Everyone has something to contribute. When individuals identify their strengths, they can intentionally show up as their best selves daily.
Some of her workshops include: Discovering True Strengths, Communication Styles, How to Talk about A Tough Topic, How to Lead Through Team Strengths, How to Thrive and Not Just Survive In Leadership and Moving Through Life When Things Don’t Line Up.
Kathy is the author of a unique devotional journal entitled PassageWalk™; a 33-day walking program incorporating walking and Bible study. There are plans to pilot a PasageWalk App in 2020. She is also the creator of a fitness program called You Are God's Original (UAGO). UAGO (u-ah-go) is a fusion of bible study, music, and movement.
Kathy serves as a member of the UAB National Alumni Society Board of Directors, YMCA Board of Directors, Kiwanis Executive Board, and the Leadership Speaker’s Bureau for United Way of Central Alabama. She served as the first female and African American Board Chair and Vice President, for the Birmingham Education Foundation.
In 2022, Kathy was awarded the Diversity and Inclusion Award by the Birmingham Business Journal. In 2020 Kathy was the recipient of the A.G Gaston People’s Choice Community Service Award. She is also the two-time recipient of the United Way Crawford T. Johnson Loaned Executive of the year award.
Kathy graduated from the 2020 Leadership Hoover class, 2019 Momentum Leadership class, and 2013 Leadership Birmingham class. She is a sought speaker and facilitator because when you experience her, you see a heart and a passion for others. Her ability to speak love through a conversation or presentation is a gift that you must share to understand.
Kathy is a Birmingham native. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Management. She attends the Church of the Highlands.
She has the daily gift of being married to Chip Boswell. They have two children.
Kathryn resides here in the Woodlawn Community with her husband Jordan.
Kathy’s son Parker now resides in Heaven since September 17, 2020.
